Which cancers the current trials are studying
Trial activity is not spread evenly across cancer types. Among studies starting since 1 July 2026:
- CAR-T / cell therapy: 146
- Immunotherapy: 226
- Antibody-drug conjugate: 51
- Breast cancer: 401
- Lung cancer: 389
- Leukemia: 222
Breast and lung cancer sit at the top, which tracks with how common they are. But commonness is not the only driver — a disease needs a plausible target to study as well as patients to enrol.
A note on overlapping counts
These categories are not mutually exclusive. A study of an immunotherapy in lung cancer appears in both searches. The registry indexes by condition and by intervention, and a single record can carry several of each, so adding these figures together would double-count.
If you want the figure for a specific combination, search the two terms together rather than adding the separate counts.
Counts taken from the ClinicalTrials.gov API on 7 October 2026, covering studies with a registered start date on or after 1 July 2026. Registry numbers move as records are added and updated, so treat them as a snapshot rather than a fixed figure.
